The IME/CME Process
Although independent and compulsory medical exams have different purposes, the process involved is similar. During an IME or CME, we will:
- Review the plaintiff’s medical records (including any imaging results)
- Speak with the plaintiff about their medical history and their family’s medical history
- Ask the plaintiff about their injuries and any symptoms they’ve been experiencing
- Perform a physical examination
Afterward, we’ll use the information that we gleaned from the exam to determine whether the plaintiff is actually injured, how serious their injuries are, and whether their complaints are related to the accident at issue.
