As Tampa’s oldest orthopaedic center and sports injury clinic, Tampa Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Group (TOSM) upholds a commitment to exceptional patient care that dates back more than six decades. The clinic was founded in 1949 by Dr. Donald Hedrick, who received his training at the prestigious Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI. Originally located on Lafayette Street in downtown Tampa, TOSM expanded over the years, but the growth of the clinic and the addition of more doctors only solidified the practice’s high standard of progressive, patient-centered orthopaedic care. In 1970, Dr. James Murphy joined Dr. U.A. Young and Dr. Harold Williamson at Tampa Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Group. Dr. James Murphy retired in 2001. His son, Dr. Daniel Murphy, joined the practice in 1998. Dr. Arnold Ramirez became a proud member of the medical team in 2008.
Today, this Tampa orthopaedic center and sports injury clinic is at the forefront of non-surgical and surgical orthopaedic treatments. Drs. Murphy and Ramirez proudly oversee the clinic’s wide range of services, from physical therapy and PRP injections to arthroscopic procedures and joint replacement surgery. Located at 602 South Howard Avenue since 1963, the clinic’s stalwart belief in patient care, ethics, and traditional courtesy has remained the same throughout the decades. It is our goal to offer patients efficient, effective treatment in a comfortable environment. When you meet our staff of orthopaedic doctors, nurses, and physical therapists, you’ll see that we work hard to answer any questions you may have about your condition and to provide a personalized treatment plan that ensures the best possible outcome for every individual.
